Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Pedralbes, 2014 Dossier Sala Capitular Room
The Reial Monestir de Pedralbes, through Catalan history, has played different roles, not only the one referring to the religious environment: the period between 1931 and 1941 was converted into a repository of works of art and part of the archive of Catalonia. The exhibition Heritage in Time of War, exposes how the events occurred during the civil war and the role that the monastery played; all comprised in four exhibition areas plus an introductory audiovisual space.

The museological approach aims to contextualize the moment, with a design that adapts the different needs of the exhibition with a common element: the packaging box. Several documents of the time show how the monastery was full of wooden containers that kept important works of art inside. This same approach expands as a museum proposal and gives continuity to the different spaces of the monastery where the exhibition takes place.

Likewise, in some cases the museological elements are arranged exactly where they were, for example, the archives that were safeguarded from war, collected in the plans drawn in a notebook by the person in charge of guarding them.

The graphic image identifies a packaging box painted with a stenciled typography, next to the emblem of the monastery.

The typography is complemented by a typing and other manuscript, based on the documents on which the research of the museological proposal made by Carme Aixalà and Jordi Ramos is based.
